Current and new members
FSO normally rehearses on Thursday evenings during school term times 19:45–22:00.
This term, due to COVID-19, we will be rehearsing from 20:00-21:30 without a break and we will be limited to 30 players, so although we'd be delighted to welcome new players, please contact email@example.com before coming to a rehearsal.
We rehearse and give most of our concerts in Trinity Church, North Finchley, N12 7NN.
For more information on getting there, see our Contact Us page.
For the dates of our rehearsals and planned concerts this season, including half-term breaks and holidays, please refer to the year's schedule
Concerts are normally at 19:30 on a Saturday with a final rehearsal in the afternoon, normally from 14:15 to 19:15. Dress is normally black tie for men, long black for ladies, although for the summer concert the dress is all-black for men as well.
FSO is a friendly orchestra with a relaxed atmosphere but a high standard of playing maintained by a strong shared enjoyment of the music we play — if we don't like it, we don't play it!
So, if you play violin, viola, cello or double bass to an advanced amateur standard and have good sight-reading ability and some orchestral experience, or if you have been professionally trained but no longer make your living by playing, we would love you to contact us with a view to arranging to come, informally, to a rehearsal.
We also have some vacancies in other sections and even if there is no current vacancy we can arrange for you to join a deputies list and to play for occasional rehearsals before any commitment is made on either side, so if you are interested in playing with us do get in touch.
Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
