Based in London, Christopher began his musical life as a cellist, and began conducting whilst a choral scholar at Trinity College, Cambridge.

As co-founder and Principal Conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Society Award-winning Multi-Story Orchestra (with composer Kate Whitley), he has conducted the Orchestra’s Peckham car park performances since their inception in 2011, including performances at the BBC Proms, Brighton and Aldeburgh Festivals. Multi-Story is currently expanding across the UK, playing in Gloucester, Coventry and Birmingham.

Away from Multi-Story Christopher works mostly in opera, for Oper Köln, Glyndebourne Festival and Tour, Garsington, and English Touring Opera. He has also worked as assistant conductor for the Philharmonia, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Gürzenich Orchester Köln and Aurora.

Committed to community music making, he is also Principal Conductor of the Ernest Read and Blackheath Halls Symphony Orchestras. He has recorded for NMC and broadcast with Multi-Story and Aurora.
